The Landscaping and Care of the Lakeside Property Based on a True Love of Plants | New
As a business owner, Kyle Burgamy knows how important it is to master the administrative tasks of his business, but his real joy will always be to go out and do the job he loves.
“I love going out into people’s backyards and just playing,” Burgamy said. “You can make some of the work in progress your own.”
Landscaping allows Burgamy to unleash his creative side. The Milledgeville native studied landscape architecture at the University of Georgia, and after working at an Athens-area company for a few years after graduating, decided to return to his hometown. He continued to work in the industry locally and in 2018 decided to open his own business, Lakefront Landscaping and Property Care.
While some property care companies focus largely on mowing and general yard maintenance, Burgamy has chosen a slightly different model for his business.
“Landscape design is really at the heart of our business, and I think that’s what really sets us apart from other companies that do landscape type work,” said Burgamy.
Landscaping and maintaining the lakeside property can help residential and commercial clients by designing, planning and building landscapes ranging from a small corner of someone’s backyard to the whole of ownership of new construction. They serve all of Milledgeville and Baldwin counties, as well as parts of Putnam, Jones and Hancock counties.
Burgamy and his team bring years of experience in landscape design and horticulture to the table, enabling them to help clients choose plants, trees and shrubs that not only look good, but are adapted to thrive in the particular environment in which they are planted. .
“A lot of people want help figuring out what to do in their backyard, and that’s what we are doing. We help them know what to do, give them ideas, ”said Burgamy. “We are very familiar with the local, native and other plant varieties that are well suited here.”
Burgamy said he and his staff obtain their plants from a number of local sources. They enjoy picking a variety of plants both for the enjoyment of their customers and for their own continued love of learning about plants.
“We try to use a wide variety of plants rather than just stick to a few,” said Burgamy. “Deep down, we are plants, so we love plants, we love variety, and personally, I love to know more about plants.”
While Lakefront Landscaping excels in design, they are also professionals in maintaining existing plant life. The company offers service plans to clients who are looking for assistance with the maintenance of their property. Weekly, bi-weekly and monthly options are available. Lakefront staff will come to the property and perform general duties such as weeding and pruning while providing advice to the owner on specific aspects of plant maintenance. Maintenance plans also include an option for lawn mowing services if desired.
Burgamy says that while some clients want to leave all of their lawn maintenance to the professionals, many like to collaborate with the lakeside landscaping staff to learn more about how to care for the plants that grow. on their properties.
“We’re kind of a partnership with them,” Burgamy said.
By developing long-term client relationships, Burgamy said he is often able to enjoy both the instant gratification from his job each day and the delayed gratification that comes with time.
“When it comes to planting and seeing shrubs and trees mature over the years, it takes a little more patience, but for that reason it’s all the more rewarding,” said Burgamy.
Burgamy is proud of his staff and the level of expertise he brings to his position.
“I have a great team working with me, but they also know plants very well. I think this is our greatest strength as a company, ”said Burgamy. “They’re wonderful, and that’s why this company is what it is.”
Burgamy added that Lakefront Landscaping is looking to hire more staff who are interested in “anything landscape related”.
Although the past year has been difficult for many businesses, Mr Burgamy said he feels lucky that his business has been able to flourish. Working outside has allowed them to continue, even during the strictest period of pandemic closure. Burgamy also saw people develop a renewed interest in investing in improvements to their properties during this time.
“A lot of people who hadn’t spent a lot of time at home were suddenly spending a lot of time at home,” Burgamy said.
Overall, Burgamy is delighted with the growth of his business over the past two years. Although he will always have to deal with office work, he is grateful for all the time he spends working outside.
“We’re working on some of the nicest properties around the lake and around Milledgeville,” Burgamy said. “We have a lot of long-term clients, and we can see how things go over the years, and it’s really cool to see. Looking at a beautiful property and knowing that you have a role to play in it is truly satisfying.
