Caseology is well known for creating good quality, yet affordable cases in a variety of different designs. This is one of its thinnest cases and the Dual Grip’s simple form factor will certainly appeal to minimalists. It’s sleek and sleek, with simple lines and a super slim profile. The name Dual Grip is inspired by the cool textured cutouts on each side that give your fingers a perfect non-slip grip.
The Caseology Dual Grip looks great on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and the grippy sides feel great in the hand. As far as aesthetics go, it looks good, but I’m not sure black is the best color to pair with an iPhone Pacific Blue. I think this case would look even better on a black, white, or silver phone. Black is the only color available for this case, but I’ll get to that later. First, the pros and cons:

At the end of the line : Minimalists will appreciate the slim, simple and smooth appearance of the Caseology Dual Grip. It is also a great choice for iPhone serial dropper!

Caseology cases are not difficult to grasp. The Dual Grip is available on the Caseology website, but you can find it for a lower price on Amazon and Walmart. On Amazon, for example, you can buy this iPhone 12 Pro Max case for no more than $ 12! It really performs well and looks like a good quality case, so I was happy to find it at such an attractive price. However, the Dual Grip is only available in black.
Dual Grip Caseology: Smooth and elegant, yet grippy

For anyone who likes to keep things to a minimum, this sleek and sleek case will be a great choice. It has a streamlined look and feel with very little detail to break up simple lines. It’s also quite thin and doesn’t add much bulk or weight to the iPhone. The problem with super smooth cases is the drop factor, of course, so Caseology solved the problem of the grip cutouts on both sides.
As you can see in some photos, the grippy element on each side is incorporated so that it looks like a natural part of the design. It has a cool and modern look and as soon as you feel it under your fingers you know why it’s there. The subtle texture seems to cling to your hand, and as long as you hold this grippy part of the case, you are very unlikely to drop the iPhone. In fact, I haven’t dropped my phone since it did, which is rare for me.

I have to mention that this case is compatible with my MagSafe charger. While not a MagSafe case, the Dual Grip is thin enough that the MagSafe charger can still snap into place when it’s time to charge the iPhone. I wouldn’t trust it on a MagSafe stand, but for charging it works great. This is a nice additional feature.
Although I haven’t dropped my iPhone since it was in the case, it does feel quite protective. Now, it’s pretty thin and light, so I’m not sure it would resist being dropped off a balcony or something; but the raised edges around the screen and camera are deep enough to protect the most sensitive areas of the iPhone. While I think the protection of the iPhone is sufficient in the Dual Grip case, the case itself does not stand up to much abuse. This is my main point in the next section.
Dual Grip Caseology: Can I have it in blue?

After about a month of using the Caseology Dual Grip, I noticed a few scratches on the black surface. They are very light and not that noticeable, but they are definitely there. Since I didn’t drop or mistreat the iPhone in this case, it makes me think that the smooth black surface might not withstand rough handling. For this reason, I will make sure to treat him gently (and keep him away from my children). This is an attractive case, but any visible scratches would definitely take away from its jet black beauty.
The only other improvement I would like to see with this case would be additional color choices. Black would look great on a black iPhone, but not so eye-catching on my Pacific Blue model. I would love to see choices in blue, white, or even metallic tones like silver. Since the case is a nice combination of grippy textures and slick minimalism, it’s only missing a few more color options for colorful iPhones.
Dual Grip Caseology: Competition
Source: Smartish
It’s not uncommon to see iPhone cases that have a grippy texture or a thin appearance, but it’s rare to find a slim case that combines both smooth surfaces and a thin grip. The most similar option should be the Smartish Gripmunk. Here’s a reasonably slim case with a smooth back panel and grippy sides, just like the Dual Grip. Gripmunk is available in more colourways, which may be an advantage for some, and it sells for a similar price. However, the Gripmunk is not as thin or minimal as the Dual Grip, so your decision between two cases like these will depend on your personal style and preferences.
Dual Grip Caseology: Should we buy it?
You should buy it if …
- You put down your iPhone easily.
- You have a black iPhone.
- You benefit from a simple and minimal design while having adequate protection.
You shouldn’t buy it if …
- You are extremely brutal with your phone.
- You like colorful cases.
There is no doubt that if you have an iPhone Graphite 12, this case would make a great companion. It’s sleek, smooth, and quite thin. It’s a great choice for anyone who appreciates the simple things in life and appreciates minimal design. If you have buttery fingers, you’ll also like the way the grippy sides seem to grip your fingers for great non-slip grip. It also offers adequate protection, as long as you don’t abuse the case (it will show scratches if you do!). If you have a Pacific Blue iPhone or some other bright color, this might not be your choice as it lacks a lot of colorways. The choice will depend on your color and style preferences, but overall it’s a good deal for a great price.
